March FoodShare

Supporting CEAP and all of the work that they do is something that we do all year round. However, a couple of times a year we focus on bringing in food and money.

During the month of March, Minnesota FoodShare matches a portion of every dollar and pound of food donated. There are a few different ways that you can participate in Minnesota Food Share:

In addition to Minnesota Food Share month, we will be having a special collection week during Holy Week – those details will come out in April.

HOLY WEEK SPECIAL REQUESTS

  • Palm Sunday: canned goods and baby supplies
  • Maundy Thursday: Bread making supplies (flour, canola oil, salt, sugar, dry yeast)
  • Good Friday: Rice and beans
  • Easter Sunday: Breakfast foods (peanut butter, jelly, pancake mix, syrup, fruit juice, cereal, powdered milk)

This year we are having our Sunday School kiddos participate in a Food Drive Challenge. The teams are PreK – 1st Grade and 2nd – 5th Grade. We are going to see which team can build the biggest “Food Pyramid” Some kiddos brought home paper bags on Sunday – feel free to put some groceries in the bag, and bring them back to Church. Once bags arrive here at Church we will work to combine them into very full bags of groceries which will then become bricks on the food pyramids.

  • Make a cash donation while attending a PoP church service – mail or drop off a donation in the church office
  • Attend Soup du Jour on Wednesday, March 20 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm – a Lenten soup supper hosted by PoP to support CEAP (one of our local ministry partners) and to meet and feed our neighbors
  • If your child is in Sunday School they can participate in our Food Collection competition (details below…)

In short – bring groceries in over the course of the next month and we will take it from there

* You can bring any of these items in at any time during the Month of March (not just on Sundays)
