The church of today faces many challenges. People are so busy today…sports on Sundays, work, keeping up with the kids and our aging parents and our aging selves…
Everyone is so distracted. Smart phones and social media and consumerism and religious pluralism and organizational suspicions. “I am spiritual but not religious,” says one. “I am Christian but not into organized religion,” says another.
Really, what chance does the church have?
So, we often end up yearning for the “glory days”. When the church was busting at the seams, and the hymnal was the right color.
But here’s the thing…
Our mission at Prince of Peace is to Grow Deep and Reach Out!
And when a whole community of faith does that, there is life and inspiration and consolation and invitation and room for questioning and doubting and growing.
And that is exactly what I see when I look around our congregation.
Thanks be to God!
