Join us “up north” for a day of biking, eating, & enjoying the lake! Make a day of it or maybe you’re already in the area for the weekend?!
June 23, 11am to 4pm. This event is FREE!
Jeff & Patti Amstrup have kindly offered their cabin on Boulder Lake near Nevis, a short distance off of the Heartland State Trail, as the destination/refreshment station.
The format of the day looks like this:
1. Choose your starting point
– Bemidji = 50 miles to the cabin. Paul Bunyan Park.
– Walker trailhead = 20 miles to the cabin. Parking lot at corner of County 12 NW & Lake May 12 Rd.
– Akeley City Park trailhead = 10 miles to the cabin. Akeley City Park & Campground.
– Other = Choose your own distance. Map links below.
2. Time your start to arrive at the lake no earlier than 11:00am
– Shuttle available to ride to the cabin/pick-up point if you have young kids in your party. (There is a 3/4 mi. road section to get to the lake.)
3. Enjoy food & fun in/around the lake anytime from 11:00am-4:00pm
4. Ride back to your starting point & vehicle. Safe travels!

Simply put…
Drive to Akeley (about 2.5 hours) park and get on the Heartland Bike Trail.
Bike 12 miles to Amstrup’s lake cabin on Boulder Lake.
Plan to arrive between 11:00-1:00.
Spend the afternoon swimming, canoeing, kayaking and eating lunch.
Around 4:00pm get back on your bikes and head back to Akeley.
