Prince of Peace Constitution

I have been attending Prince of Peace for almost 50 years.  It’s hard to believe when I am so young!  I have been on the council, responsible for communion, made sure the paraments are the correct
colors and organized and volunteered for many events over the years!

In past over 20 years I have organized and taken many groups to Jamaica working with an orphanage of differently abled
children and young adults, worked with a couple churches, held sewing clinics and worked with a school of preschool children.  I have also organized or attended trips to Mexico City, South Dakota and Tanzania.

I retired 13 years ago from a long career with the railroad.  I have 2 beautiful daughters and 8 fantastic grandchildren who I love spending time with.

Prince of Peace is the faith community that I choose to worship with and love.

Morgan is an active volunteer at Prince of Peace, where he and his wife, Heather, have been mem-bers since 2007. They have one child, Owen, who is currently away at college. Over the last 19 years, Morgan has helped on Sunday mornings by reading scripture, ushering, and working the slide projec-tor. In 2025, he started singing in the choir, and he is continually grateful to share in the music—and for fellow members’ efforts to keep him in key. Morgan has also assisted with youth faith formation on Wednesday nights and chaperoned a trip in 2021 to the Boundary Waters. He previously served on the Church Council in 2013 and 2014 as a representative of the Sunday Morning Experience Com-mittee.

Morgan works as a commercial banking underwriter with Alerus Financial based in Minnetonka. He also volunteers with Braver Angels, a national organization dedicated to helping people bridge politi-cal divisions with deeper, civil conversation. He served as a Minnesota state coordinator for Braver Angels from 2022-2024 with a focus on the coordination of local workshops and volunteer mentor-ship.

Allison has been attending PoP since 2005 and has previously been on the nominating committee. Allison is currently on the Mental Health Connect team at POP and is also in senior choir and bell choir.

Allison is also involved in her community. She has been on the New Hope Human Rights Commission for the last 4 years, is a member of the Robbinsdale area Empty Bowls committee, and will be joining the League of Women Voters this winter.

Allison and her husband Mike have been involved in Group Life for over 10 years and have enjoyed meeting new people in the congregation through this great ministry.

Allison is a speech language pathologist and works as the therapy manager at Mercy Hospital. She enjoys going on walks with Mike and their miniature schnauzer Daizy, reading, scrapbooking, and knitting.

Rachel has been a member of POP for 17 years.  Rachel began volunteering at POP with children’s ministry, and as her nephews grew she moved up with them; teaching Sunday school, confirmation and providing snacks for youth events.  Rachel has volunteered with most ministry areas at some point in the past 17 years, although her favorite is cooking and serving food for the congregation.

When Rachel is not on adventures and making memories with her family, she works in ultrasound at Fairview University hospital, teaches at the U of M medical school, leads the team of navigators for Mental Health Connect and watches baseball while working as an EMT on the MN Twins First Aid team.
Rachel’s most favorite things at POP are communion and the deep friendships the community of POP has brought into her life.

Melissa has been a member of Prince of Peace for more than 44 years and has previously served on the Council as Secretary, Vice President, she is currently the co-chair of the Outreach Team and sings in the Senior Choir.

During the day, you will find Melissa in a classroom. She is a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts in Anoka, MN.

When she’s not at school or church, she enjoys spending time with her goddaughters and cheering them on at all of their sporting events, watching Gopher hockey, reading, walks and bike rides in the park reserve and traveling.

Baptized and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran, I chose Prince of Peace as my home church to raise my family in 1984. My two sons and one daughter were baptized, attended Sunday School, and confirmed at POP. Over the years I volunteered in the nursery, taught Sunday School, mentored confirmation students, managed POP’s many direct mail campaigns and co-hosted Group Life Bible studies.

I’ve been blessed to have participated in several mission trips to Jamaica and one eye-opening vision trip to Tanzania. More recently, I’ve become involved in POP’s Outreach Team. I recently heard that 15,000 churches in our country will close in 2026. I want to do all I can to make sure Prince of Peace is not one of them.

I am Rebecca Nygren. I have been part of Prince of Peace since I moved back to the cities 10 years ago to take a teaching job. I was looking for a Lutheran church with a bell choir and I’m so glad I did! I play bells, obviously (I’m the one waving my arms around vigorously), and I’ve also been part of a wonderful group life group.

I’m excited to see how our church grows during this time of change.
