CHILDREN and FAMILY Ministry at Prince of Peace

We love kids! We are determined to keep our children’s ministry program a vibrant, energetic, and loving atmosphere. Our Sunday School ministry meets during the school year and is focused on teaching the faith and Christian truths that help our young people develop a foundation for living. Children’s ministry events include Sunday afternoon activities, Summer camps, and other scheduled events. Our hope is that the children and families at Prince of Peace might be built up and strengthened in faith and love.

CHILDREN AND FAMILY MINISTRY PROGRAMS

SUNDAY SCHOOL – Sunday School meets at 9:00 am or 10:30 am during the school year – you choose the time that works best for your family. Our Sunday School ministry follows a semi-rotational model where our children are learning the Bible stories through different ways (art, games, crafts, etc.)  We also spend some of our Sundays doing Faith in Action projects such as Operation Christmas Child, and Quilt Squares.  Our Sunday School ministry meets from the Sunday after Labor Day through the weekend BEFORE Memorial Day.  We take the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, the two Sundays surrounding Christmas and New Years, and Easter Sunday off.

POPpers:  POPpers is a program that is designed for our 4th-6th graders to grow in fellowship with one another.  We do monthly events (with the exception of September, December and Summer) and they usually happen on a Sunday afternoon.  If you have a child in these grades and would be willing to help plan some of our events, please let us know.

DIGGIN IN is our Lenten ministry for Sunday School aged students.  Some of you have children that are also in our Mentoring program (and some of you may even be mentors) and so we decided to offer something for the younger kids too.  DIGGIN IN meets the 6 Wednesdays of Lent from 6:15-7:00.  We meet in the Chapel to do age appropriate activities/Bible studies that go with the Lenten theme.  No pre-registration is necessary.

G.I.F.T. – Gathering in Fellowship Together is our Children and Family Ministry events.  Throughout the year we have parties (usually centered around Holidays) that allow us to gather outside of a Sunday Morning.  Some of the parties include the Halloween Extravaganza (complete with a haunted hallway) and a Valentines Banquet.  We have also done Fiestas, Luaus, Picnics, etc.  Another component of G.I.F.T. is Faith and Family nights that meet in the Summer.  During the months of July and August we have get togethers here at Church for the entire Congregation.

SPORTS, CONCERTS, ETC: One of the components of our Childrens Ministry program is relational ministry and the best way to do that is to show our young people that we care for them outside of the Church building too.  Therefore, if you have a child that is active in sports, music, or school plays – whatever it may be, please let us know and we will try our best to be there.  The earlier you get us the schedule – the easier it is to plan around.

There are many ways to get involved with Children & Family Ministry! Contact Katie to be part of her email notes and to get more information about program registration.
