Is there a preview video I could see, first?
This welcome video will give you a good idea of who we are. Watch it, now!
Where do you meet?
Prince of Peace is located at 7217 West Broadway in Brooklyn Park just north of Interstate 694 off of Exit 31 (Highway 81). FIND DIRECTIONS HERE.
When are the services?
[Until September 17, we worship together during 1 service at 9:30am]. Otherwise…
We have two worship services on Sunday mornings. At 9 am we have a traditional Lutheran worship with organ music and time-honored hymns. During the school year we also have vocal and bell choirs. At 10:30 am there is a modern worship service with keyboards, percussion, guitar, vocals and other instruments. It’s a bit louder and you never know what you’ll get. During the school year, Sunday School runs concurrently with worship services and we have frequent Bible studies for adults.
What is a “Lutheran”?
Lutherans are Christians, as Martin Luther preferred they would be called! But his opponents in the 16th century tagged those believers who embraced Luther’s teaching of Scripture as authority and the great theological insights he taught from the Bible with the name, Lutheran, and it stuck. But Lutherans are simply Christians who accept the Bible as the true source of Christian love, truth, and guidance for daily life. We accept the same ancient creeds of the apostolic, historic Church as other Christians do. We understand Christ’s commandment to go into the world to make disciples of Jesus Christ and show the love of God in both word and action. We also proclaim in particular the biblical message of “justification by grace through faith.” That is, Lutheran Christians emphasize that a person is saved (made right in the eyes of God) by God’s unconditional love (grace) as they receive that grace by putting their whole trust and commitment (faith) in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ through His life, death, and resurrection.
Do you have a nursery?
Nursery is available Sunday morning at both services for children up to age 3. Our nursery staff is trained in lifesaving skills from the American Red Cross. Please let the staff know if your child has any allergies or special needs.
What do you have going on for my children?
Children beyond nursery age attend church with their families and then go to Sunday School right after Kids’ Time. They are invited up front for Kids’ Time and then are encouraged to join others their age in Sunday School. Parents can pick the children up in their classrooms after worship. There are many programs beyond Sunday School. Visit the Children & Family Ministry Page for more important info.
Are there programs for my high school student?
Yes, we offer a wide range of programs for youth in grades 7-12, beginning with Axis, our confirmation program. Revolution is the high school youth group and iRev is a small group Bible study. Virtually all of our youth programs have components of worship, service, fellowship and discussion/study. For more info, visit the Youth Ministry Page.
What does it mean to be a “member” of your congregation?
We view membership as a partnership–much like how our body’s different parts work together to get things done–as we Grow Deep. Reach Out. We welcome new members through a number of different ways. Please CONTACT US for more information. Our next New Member Class is Sunday, September 24, 11:45am to 2:00pm. Click here for more info.
