John the baptizer proclaimed … “I have baptized you with water;
but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
“Our Faith Journey So Far”

In baptism, parents, sponsors, & the community of faith make promises on the behalf of the one being baptized. These promises are to live a life of faith described as living among God’s faithful people, hearing the word of God, proclaiming the good news of God in Christ through word & deed, serving all people, following the example of Jesus, & striving for justice & peace in all the earth.
Affirmation of Baptism is the milestone when our young people take greater responsibility for keeping these promises in their own lives (of course still with plenty of help from home & the church!). Our gospel text shares the story of Jesus’ own baptism by John, setting the example for all of us to follow. This message, made up of all of our confirmands’ own stories, share with us just what the life of faith looks like for a young person today. We hope God’s story & the story of our young people, inspires you today.
