It is clear from the outset of His ministry that community, the community of faith in Christ, the church, would be the central sustaining gift that Jesus would establish in His name.
At the core of this community would be love.
“Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Rm 13:10)
On Sunday we celebrated the Great Prince of Peace Get Together.
The world appears to be hard at work dividing itself up along political and ideological lines. By the grace of God, this community of faith is called to embrace a different vision of the world.
Sometimes that call will take us far from home and sometimes it will take shape in and among the people right around us. And through it all, Jesus promises to be there with us. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Mt 18:20)
This past Sunday, you could feel that presence as our worship band joined our choir to lead a Spirit filled worship service. One visitor caught up with me after worship and said that she had been searching for a church to call home. “This morning, I feel like I found it,” she said.
Questions to ponder or discuss:
On Sunday, we celebrated all that the Lord is doing in and through our congregation. How are you using your gifts to strengthen and support the ministry and outreach we share at POP? If you have trouble answering that question, maybe it’s time to answer the call!
See you in church,
