“This”, he said, “is what you have heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” –Acts. 1:4b-5
Can I Get a Witness?
(Click the time above for that service)
I will not leave you orphaned Jesus told his followers. You will be my witnesses. You will get the word out… And we have to wonder, what was he thinking!?
Is God really willing to risk having the likes of you and me serve as witnesses to the greatest crime drama ever played out on the world stage?
The Son of almighty God was wrongly accused, convicted and executed but Jesus defeated that death. He defeated sin, death and the devil and said, as the father has sent me, so now I send you…
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
But witnesses are often wrong. What if I get it wrong, Jesus? And to tell you the truth, I hear so many Christian witnesses out there today sharing a version of this faith that sounds almost the opposite of my own experience, my own witness.
Your story is one of a kind and God says, it matters. Nobody else sees God’s dream for the world exactly as you do. We need each other. Can I get a witness?
Questions to Ponder or Discuss
1. What comes to mind when you think about sharing your witness to your Christian faith?
2. How can the way you live be a witness to your faith?
3. Does the thought of witnessing to your faith feel like a responsibility?
This week pay extra attention to your Christian witness in the world. Be mindful of every opportunity to share, invite and serve in the name of Jesus.
See you in church!
